Dear Warlock, though i have seen my share of discretionary selling, i have a question regarding something i don't get: what does base metals mean?

That is a subject which is of principal distinction, Madilyn. Base metals is The main industrial non-ferrous metals excluding precious metals and minor metals. These are copper, primary aluminium, lead, nickel, tin and zinc. See London Metal Exchange.
